We are officially over a month into our new school year, and we are busy, busy, busy in third grade.
We kicked off guided reading in our classroom last week. Students will be bringing home their books on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to read the assign pages and usually have comprehension questions to go along with the reading.
We are in the process of writing our Personal Narrative. We are busy learning all the steps of Writer's Workshop, learning how to write an introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs, and learning how to stretch a sentence to add details for our reader.
In math, we are busy learning our multiplication and division facts. We want to become very fluent on our facts! If your child has any extra time at home or in the car, encourage them to practice their multiplication and division facts : ) Our unit test will be later in October. A specific date to follow
Science is quite exciting, as well. Our Wisconsin Fast Plants are about 24 days old and starting to form buds and flowers. We are excited to start to pollinate our plants, so our plants can form seeds.
During religion we learned what it means to be a disciple. This week each student decided on one thing they can do to be a disciple, and we are going to keep track of our success in living as Jesus has taught us.
