We had a great time celebrating Christmas in our classroom this week! We are anxiously awaiting the day to celebrate the birth of Jesus! We had our school Christmas Concert which everyone sang terrific at, our class gift exchange where everyone got great gifts from classmates, decorated cookies, a surprise visit from Mariah (Miss. Agamaite's sister) who helped our class make our parents' Christmas gift, and performed our Washington Watermelon play for 4K, First Grade, Mr. B, Mrs. Delebreau, and Father Suess. During the Christmas Season, we wrote Christmas cards to an 8 year old girl who wished to receive enough Christmas Cards to fill up her tree.

Christmas is almost here and we are getting in the spirit of Christmas in Third Grade! We are learning about Advent and lighting our Advent Wreath in our classroom. Each student has their own individual Advent Wreath. While getting in the spirit of Christmas, we have begun our Nonfiction Unit in Reading and Writing. Each guided reading group is reading an Informational book. We are working on summarizing, main idea and detail, and using text features throughout an Informational book. In Writing, we had our narrative publishing party and we kicked off Informational Writing Unit. We have picked our topic we would like to research to write our informational book. We chose a wide range of topics from animals to events in history. We will begin to prewrite our book and start researching. In Math class, we had our Unit 2 test last week. Everyone did an AWESOME job on their test; I am very proud of everyone! We began Unit 3 this week. In Unit 3, we will be working on measurement, time, and graphs. Our Unit 3 test will not be until after Christmas!
